Nine WV Counties Under State of Emergency; Common Sense is Dead

On Thursady January 9,2014,an estimated 5,000 gallons of Crude MCHMursday, leaked into the soil on the banks of the Elk River. This chemical leached through the soil and into the river, contaminating the water supply in nine West Virginia counties. Hotels have closed their doors; restaurants are no long open; school have shut down. The public has been warned to use tap wter for absolutely no reason, which includes bathing, drinking, washing clothes, washing hands. Fluching the toilet is the only acceptable reason to use the water and even then you are advised to keep the lid down.

This sounds pretty darned serious to me. Yet, a seminar that I am supposed to attend on Monday is supposedly not cancelled. Well, I am not real excited to drive two-three hours to stay in a hotel with no water, eating out of my personal cooler because there are no eateries open, after hauling my own case of bottled water to my  hotel room. This is an educational seminar. One would expect educated people to possibly postpone such an even; but after serving 31 years in the field I am aware of how much common sense our education system employs.

IN today's newspaper Paul Ziemkiewicz, director of the WV Water Research INstitute at WVU, is quoted as saying "You would have to drink thousands of gallons of that water to get anywhere near a lethal dose."  The article went on to say "showering would not be a good idea, because the chemical could irritate eye, skin, and lungs."

I hope you heard the screech that my mind made after reading such rubble. So, I can drink it but I can't wash my hands in it? Excuse me...It ain't going in my body if it can't go on it. Nope.

Cancelling my own trip to Charleston is not a cheap plan for this school teacher. My plan to attend a much anticipated seminar (the registration cost of $139.99 out of my own pocket) may be sacrificed because common sense tells me that pursuing this adventure is not in my best interest. Why won't this professional development company appear more reputable by postponing this event? As an educator I can already predict that very few attending participants will be actively engaged in what promises to be valuable information if it were give in a more positive environment.

At least I can cancel my hotel reservation without penalty. I will not "skip" this function on a whimsy. I really want to go. I really want to learn more about the subject being presented. I really want my $139.00 to be spent wisely since I had to save up for this for several weeks; but it looks like there is not reimbursement.

There are nine counties under a state of emergency and occupying screen time on the national news. I believe this is a very good reason to postpone and compensate those folks involved.

...but you've heard about what happened to Common Sense, have you not? He died. "i'm pretty certain I read then obituary.

ABCD...CBD

Week two of my latest MS  extinction adventure.. CBD oil. What exactly is it supposed to do? I'm told that individuals who imbibe in one form or another experience less physical pain and possibly a calming sense of self. Some have also tossed one or more or many to all of their prescribed medications in favor of CBD,  My biggest question is "How do you know which of the table cover of pills do you eliminate?" I am  not much of a dare devil any more and my pocketbook isn't equipped for extensive experimentation. remember I have a college freshman to support. (Oh, and he's doing fine so far; Thanks for asking. More about that later.) It makes the most sense to me to play with the mood maintenance first. I take 50 MG of Sertralin each night before bed. It is fairly good at keeping me on an even keel. I've missed doses before and it becomes crystal, as in clear, after twenty four hours that my system is missing something.

CBD and MS

We warriors are a resilient breed. After speaking extensively with a CBD enthusiast over the weekend, i finally bit the bullet and bought the "good" stuff...all in the name of research. Things have changed a bit since my first CBD experience, including the flavor. This particular product comes in natural (an earthy flavor), peppermint (self-explanatory), and cinnamon (Yum!).Because particular brand (Hempworx) has ONLY two ingredients : CDB and hemp seed oil.   I decided to document my experience here, so if any of you are interested we can discuss our personal journeys. As you all know, MS is an expensive condition that requires careful thought to additional treatments and related expenditures, most of which are not recognized by insurance companies and/or medical professionals; so, every experience is a financial gamble. I started my new "treatment" on Saturday, October 26, 2019. The instructions direct you to take two-three drops under the tongue twice a

JusT NOT FeeliNg my Best

JUsT not Feeling My BesT It’s one of THOSE days. Foot drop is really P…..g me off. Balance has taken an unexpected vacation. And to top it off, I get to go to every lady’s favorite doctor visit tomorrow morn. Yep. It’s mammo time for Lisa. Yeehaw! Photo by National Cancer Institute on  Unsplash Look at that technician smiling like this is the most fun ev-er. Or is she laughing ‘cause that’s not her mammary being pancaked at early o'clock in the morning? So, with March going out like a lion tonight (71 degrees yesterday, snow forecast tomorrow), this is my April Fools Day gift. Not funny. But, seriously, getting a mammogram is probably one of the most important medical tests. Don’t forget to schedule yours. Because of COVID, mine has been re-scheduled twice. If you have had one of the vaccines, this article may interest you. I had my second vaccine in mid-February, so I think I’m safe to proceed. Doctors urge women to delay mammogram until 4–6 weeks after COVID-19 vaccine https://w
